During the 2026 spring semester, the Records Management Division welcomed Rebecca Noto. Rebecca, now a rising junior at College of Charleston, assisted us with cataloging photographs and books.
In 2002, the City of Charleston transferred a selection of historical municipal records to the South Carolina Room at Charleston County Public Library. In 2022, CCPL shared digitized copies of these images with the Records Management Division. Rebecca worked on adding these scans to our online catalog for greater accessibility.
By the end of the semester, Rebecca had catalogued nearly 1,000 images and 200 books. Staff are in the process of adding the finishing touches to the records, but we are adding them to our catalog of records viewable to the public every day. As of this blog post, you can see photographs of mayors Gaillard, Lockwood, Maybank, and Wehman; Recreation Department photographs; and historical photographs of the 1929 Cooper River Parade, marina and yacht basin, Charleston Municipal Airport, and railroads.

Rebecca brought so much curiosity to the division and worked diligently to make our municipal records accessible to the public. We wish her all the best!
